An Overview of Pediatric Advanced Life Support

At Safe Health Educators, we provide the American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association PALS) course. This instructor-led, video-based classroom training leverages a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to underline the critical concepts of pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, efficient resuscitation, and team dynamics. The ultimate goal of the PALS course is to improve the care offered to seriously ill or injured children, thereby enhancing outcomes.

Skills Acquired: Child and Infant CPR and AED Use

Our American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support program includes training in 1- and 2-rescuer child CPR and AED use. Participants will also learn 1- and 2-rescuer infant CPR, vital skills to handle pediatric emergencies. These skills are fundamental to enhancing a child's chances of survival during a life-threatening situation.

Understanding Cardiac, Respiratory, and Shock Cases

Through case discussions and simulations, participants will gain an understanding of managing cardiac, respiratory, and shock cases in children. These scenarios offer practical knowledge that can be vital when handling real-world pediatric emergencies.

Updated Guidelines in Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Our course reflects the key changes in pediatric advanced life support, as outlined in the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. This ensures learners are equipped with the most current, science-based approaches for pediatric life support.

Management of Respiratory Emergencies and More

Participants will learn the management of respiratory emergencies, rhythm disturbances, and electrical therapy application. The program also covers the resuscitation team concept and vascular access, providing a well-rounded knowledge base for handling pediatric emergencies. Finally, the course offers a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, a key component in the early detection and management of life-threatening conditions.
